Alright, here we go again. I’m going to start posting all the old Writhe and Shine comic strips so that they’re all up where people can see them. In case any of you haven’t read them before, welcome to my comic. For all the die-hard Writhe and Shine fans, here is a chance to live it all over again. Feel free to post something each comic makes you remember from when you used to go out to the clubs!
Here is one of the first Writhe and Shine comic strips I did. I borrowed the idea of the crazy frames from “Johnny the Homicidal Maniac” by Jhonen Vasquez. I wonder if he’s still drawing… Originally the strip was going to be called Dead Boy, about a goth kid who lived in the cemetery in New Orleans. That’s why I made his eyes all dark with little glowing dots. But I decided to have all the characters be alive, more true to life I guess. Sven’s eye is a big wonky swirl because he spends most of his time drunk.

Thank Whomsoever… Writhe is back…!
I was just about giving up hope…
Hell yes he’s back! Tell all your friends even if they have no idea who you’re talking about! And vote for Writhe and Shine on the blue link on the right!!!
wow i remember reading this years ago, nice to read it again!
Vasquez brought out ‘I feel sick’ recently, it’s pretty damn good..
Thanks for coming back to read them! I hope you enjoy Overcast with a chance of DOOM! as well!
holy shit, I remember when I first saw this comic, my friend handed me this disk and he was like “You’re weird, this comic is about weird people, you’ll probably like it” I didn’t even know what the word ‘goth’ meant back then.
So glad you’re back, will you be bringing out the whole collection from the old days?
Nice! I need more people to hand their weird friends copies of my comics!
I may bring back the Collection but that won’t be until after the current strips run their course on the site… which will be… uh, 3 strips per week, 250 strips… about March 2013.
Great to find this comic back online. Years ago it was my first online comic. And I have been quite sad, when it stopped.
Thanks! I’m glad it’s back as well! Keep reading and I’ll post more. I started another comic called Overcast With A Chance Of DOOM! You should read that too.
Hell yeah, glad to see these up again! I was utterly in love with this comic when I was like 16 or so and kinda lost track after I’d read them all. Definitely quality stuff, and an apt intro to the “scene” if you will for someone who wasn’t yet old enough to get into clubs.
Thanks! You’ll be happy to know that new strips will start as soon as the old ones run their course.
